Everyday Heroes Making a Difference

The first quarter of 2024 gave us much to celebrate that you, our donors and supporters, have made possible.

Here are just a few of the highlights:

Twelve children are now attending school that otherwise would not have been able to return.  Most are orphans living with elderly grandparents with limited resources to support them.

The Rogers house was built after they lost everything they had in a fire.

Vegetables were harvested at the Nayenga School garden and the students are now having them as part of their lunch, improving nutrition.

20 girls started their education at our Buwudha Vocational Center, training in tailoring and hairdressing.

The women's weaving business was funded and has started producing crafts to sell.

Lovisa's new food stall was built, and her garden was planted.

Baby Andrew's life was saved with an operation at Cure Hospital in Mbale to insert a shunt and drain fluid from his skull. His follow-up visit this week shows he is making good progress.

Dinnah was able to have a healthy delivery for her son and get baby supplies and food.

Sentamu's cooking hut was built to improve his health in his aging years

Victo and Asuman had their roof repaired and received new bedding. Now their children can live in healthier conditions.

Abiba's chicken coop was finished and her chickens arrived so she could start her business to support her family.

Fifth-grade students at Hinesburg Community School held a Penny War and raised $1200 to help kids in Uganda. They are participating in a cultural exchange with Nayenga Primary through video and letter writing.

Their fundraising helped fund students' tuition, and school supplies, and start our second school garden. This shows what a difference you can make just by gathering your change.

We were the beneficiary of the GlowCon Women's Conference in Pinehurst, North Carolina.  Organizer Liz Fleming donated a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales demonstrating how giving back is a key to success.  An additional $720 was raised from participants on the day of the event.

A total of $2720 was raised! This will go a long way to our sustainable programs helping lift children out of poverty.

This is just a brief recap of what you have made possible in the past three months!  I want you to know that your donations and support are making a lasting difference.

The people you have helped are so grateful and feel a deep sense of connection to you.

I don't say it lightly- you are heroes changing lives!

With Gratitude,

Mary
