Celebrating Success

You might remember this picture I posted of Emmanuel six months ago. Our team came across him breaking up rocks all day and going from village to village selling them to earn money.

He was trying to feed himself and his grandmother, and he wanted to go to school.

Emmanuel grabbed all of our hearts for sure!

Now he has received his first-term report card of first grade and he is doing very well. That is thanks to all of you.

This is the impact you make, the power of your donations!

This week the kids have been getting their first-term report cards. (The school year in Uganda goes from February to November.)

Those of you who donated to Sean's Ruck for Education, Hinesburg Community School, and our Donorsee project supporters, helped send these kids to school.

The change we see in their confidence, and outlook on life is just incredible.

They feel like they are someone, and that they have a voice.

Mirabu and her brother Godfrey, and Talifa. These children are orphans who would not have this opportunity without your help.

You can see how proud and happy they are and you are the ones who made this happen.

When you ask a child in Uganda what they most want they will say, “An education.”

 Each time, every time.

Not toys, a phone, clothes, or even food or shelter.

They want an education because they see it as their one way out of poverty.

This is one way our sustainable programs are breaking the cycle of poverty for children.

Martha is so proud of her results!

Eddison has continued to attend school while working 3 jobs to support himself, and despite losing a place to live. It's amazing he can even do his homework with all the challenges he's faced.

For a child in rural Uganda, succeeding in school has many obstacles.

Kids have household chores they have to do before and after school. Then they have a lot of “revising” which is homework. This is very difficult when you have no electricity and it's dark by 7 pm.

So no matter what marks they have received we are celebrating our students for completing their first term despite all the challenges they've faced in their young lives.

Thank you for investing in these children who will become the best champions for those facing adversity in the future.

With Gratitude,

Mary

P.S. You can help support a child’s education in Uganda with a donation. Any amount helps!
