Top of Her Class and a Home for the Holidays

Congratulations to Martha!!

She received top grades in her class and was promoted to Primary 4 for the next school year which starts in February. One year ago, Martha had no hope of attending school. She is an orphan being raised by her elderly grandfather who had no money for her school tuition.

Martha is so proud of her hard work and accomplishments and she is sending her thanks to all of you!  I never get tired of saying it, and I hope you don't get tired of hearing that you all are making an incredible difference!!

A Home for the Holidays?

Meet Florence and her great-grandchildren Sharon and Trevor.  Their mud house is in very poor condition with many holes in the walls and roof and is in danger of collapsing.

Florence has been raising the children since they were abandoned by their parents. She's very frail and in poor health. Florence does all she can to provide for the children but it's a struggle. I visited them on my recent trip to Uganda and saw the poor conditions they are living in.  The neighbors have tried to help with repairs but the intense rains have eroded the house even more.

For $985. we can build them a simple one-room home out of fired bricks that is much safer. We have $925 left to go and it would be wonderful if we could get this project funded for Florence and her great-grandchildren for the holidays!

Our team and the community have already pitched in and built them a fuel-saving stove this week and cleaned up around their home and kitchen. But we need money to buy the bricks and other materials.  Once we have those, our amazing team will be able to construct their simple, safe home in about a week.  If you are able to donate to help Florence you can do so through our website www.ourclp.org/donate  or through our crowdfunding site DonorSee

Any amount makes a difference and we are hopeful that several people coming together will make a new home possible for Florence, Sharon, and Trevor. She told us she just wants to do what she can to keep her great-grandchildren safe!

I know it's the time of year when you are asked often to give and we appreciate all you do to help the most vulnerable children!

With Gratitude,

Mary
