Village to Village

Here are just some activities that are happening in the villages this week that all of you make possible.

Hilda was checking on Martha to see how she is doing in school and to reassure her that thanks to you, our donors, she will be able to remain in school this year.  She has grown so much in the past few months (Martha, not Hilda )!

Primary 3 students are helping to plant seedlings in the school garden at Buwanume Primary. It's the rainy season now and it's important to get the crops in the ground as quickly as possible.

Thanks to you, this garden is helping to improve nutrition for the students, and it's teaching them important skills.

The girls at our Vocational Center were excited to get an electric iron this week so they can press the items they are sewing and selling. This makes me think of all the simple things we have that we take for granted!

Our team members, Betty, and her sister, Nurse Lucy, are starting a health education program for 15 families in Namalemba village. Mothers and their children will attend the classes and learn how to prepare foods that are higher in protein.

The lessons will include expectant mothers. Lucy has been seeing higher infant deaths in the village clinic because of poor nutrition and wants to do all she can to prevent this!

The children will also be getting booster vaccinations, and deworming treatments.  Focusing on health is one of the best ways to lift families out of poverty.

Thank you for all you do and for investing in the children's future!!

 With Gratitude,

Mary

P.S.  We have a project posted on our Donorsee site to help raise funds for an operation for 2-year-old Kalari. Any amount helps get him closer to much-needed surgery.
