Dancing in September!

Holy Moly!! Yes, I'm “Dancing in September,” (love that song by Earth, Wind, & Fire!) as I see the change in the kids as they get their second-term results in Uganda!

This is Martha, an orphan being raised by her elderly grandfather who had no way to send her to school. Look at her now!

These are six of the 12 children you've sent to school this year.

These happy, confident, healthy kids are amazing to see!

This is the difference you've made with your donations.

Winnie & Godfrey

Back in December, our team began identifying children who were unable to continue going to school because their families couldn't afford the fees.  Most of these children were orphaned and being raised by elderly grandparents who were struggling just to have enough food to eat.

We know that the best chance for children to be lifted out of poverty is an education.

Advancing in school takes a lot of work in Uganda. The school day is long. Many children have to walk a long distance in the dark along dangerous roads to get to school.  Most often, they've had to pump water from the borehole first, carry 40-pound jerry cans, and do chores at home.

Once school is over, they have to do chores again and often have a couple of hours of revisions (homework). This is difficult when you don't have electricity!  At the end of the school year, students have to pass a national exam for their grade level before they can advance. If they fail, they have to repeat the year.

In a couple of weeks, I'll be in Kamuli, Uganda, and we'll be getting the kids together for a little celebration. I can't wait to give them all big hugs!

So put on this great song, and do a dance and celebrate with these kids and all you've made possible!

 With Gratitude,

Mary

P.S.-  If you're feeling inspired, you are welcome to pass this blog post along to friends and family!  We'd love to introduce more people to CLP and we could use your help!
