Sorrow, Joy, and Gratitude

Early this year I put out the call for help for the Rogers family when their home in Kamuli, Uganda burned. They had nowhere to sleep and their household belongings were destroyed. Thankfully no one was hurt.

You, our wonderful, caring, community of donors, quickly rallied for this family and we raised enough to rebuild their modest, one-room home (for about $500).  Our amazing team organized a plan for getting the materials and the building was completed in a couple of weeks.

Their new home was much safer and secure thanks to all of you!

Next, we knew the family needed new bedding and household supplies.  They were sleeping on the dirt floor which wasn’t healthy and put them at risk of disease from parasites, especially the youngest children.

This project took a bit longer to fund, but once again, you, our generous donors, came through!

This family has suffered much tragedy in the past 8 months. Unfortunately, two months ago, Mrs. Prossy Rogers passed away from complications due to sickle cell disease. Even in their grief, the family was thankful she was able to see her children have a new home.

Last month our team was able to deliver the family much-needed mattresses, bedding, mosquito nets, and other household items. In addition, they received some food supplies.

The family is incredibly grateful for all the help you have given them. Your caring has helped Mr. Rogers and his children through this difficult year. They ask that I pass along their thanks to you all.

Next week I’ll be visiting the Rogers family to pay my condolences, and to see the home you all built!

You will forever be in their hearts and you have extended a kindness to this family they will never forget.

With Gratitude,

Mary
